<p>PURPOSE: A touch keyboard device and a touch position detecting method thereof are provided to prevent the reduction/display of an effective display area of a portable electronic terminal during character input by checking a key, two keys, and three keys according to a user touch and recognizing a key value according to a special key, a function key, and a general key. CONSTITUTION: A touch keyboard panel(110) is extended along an X-axis and includes X-axis touch lines arranged along an X-axis touch line and a Y-axis touch line arranged along the X-axis. An X-coordinate recognizing unit(120) recognizes an X coordinate value detected according to touch operation. An Y coordinate recognizing unit(130) recognizes an Y coordinate value detected according to the touch operation. A timing controller(140) detects a touch position based on a touch signal outputted from the X and Y coordinate recognizing units and outputs a keyboard value based on the touch position.
