<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that since all unit converters of MMCC-DSBC are full-bridge circuits, about twice as many switching elements are required when compared with the MMCC-DSBC where all unit converters are bidirectional chopper circuits, and since the number of switching elements of flow is also doubled, the loss is doubled when compared with the MMCC-DSBC. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter consists of a parallel connection of at least two legs, each consisting of a series connection of a first arm consisting of a series connection of at least two unit converters and a second arm consisting of a series connection of a first reactor, a second reactor and at least two unit converters. The joint of first and second reactors serves as an AC terminal, and the parallel joint of at least two legs connected in parallel serves as a DC terminal.
