<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of efficiently cooling a pressure member while achieving energy saving and an image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing device. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a fixing device, which comprises: a fixing member which is rotatably arranged; heating means for heating the fixing member; a pressure member which is rotatably arranged and brought into press-contact with the fixing member to form a nip part between the fixing member; and cooling means having a heat absorbing member which comes in contact with the surface of the pressure member to absorb heat of the pressure member and cools the pressure member, and fixes a toner image on a recording medium with heat and pressure by making the recording medium pass through the nip part. The fixing device has contact and separation means for bringing the pressure member into contact with or separate from the fixing member and the heat absorbing member is arranged at a position in contact with the pressure member when the pressure member is brought into separated from the fixing member by the contact and separation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
