PURPOSE: An electronic ticket issuing system using a portable terminal and a control method thereof are provided to suggest a ticket at a boarding gate by displaying the ticket in a 2D barcode type on a display of the portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A ticketing application(400) of a portable terminal(100) generates a ticket and displays the ticket in a 2D barcode type on a display unit(140). A ticket examination device(200) scans the 2D barcode by a scanner(210) to extract the ticket information and determines the validity of the scanned ticket through a validity determining unit(220). A fare payment server(300) pays a fare for the ticket.
