PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery that hardly allows an active material layer to peel off and offers excellent battery characteristics.

SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolytic solution, and the positive electrode includes a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode active material layer provided thereon. The positive electrode active material layer contains a globular active material that is in the form of secondary particles and disposed near to the positive electrode collector, and a flat-particle active material that is in the form of secondary particles and disposed far from the positive electrode collector. The median diameter (D50) of the primary particles of the globular active material is greater than the median diameter (D50) of the primary particles of the flat-particle active material.
