<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for operating an internal combustion engine in an operating condition of a certain range. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a method factor to operate an engine at an initial O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>voltage set value, and a method factor to automatically adjust the O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>voltage set value to a new O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>voltage set value so as to decrease the amount of emission. A control system to control an amount of the emission of the internal combustion engine is provided. The control system includes at least one sub-system for controlling the O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>voltage set value, at least one sub-system for measuring an amount of NOx emission in engine exhaust gas, and at least one sub-system for starting lambda sweeping to determine the optimum O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>voltage set value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
