PURPOSE: A method for controlling a robot is provided to correctly check current position of a working robot and to use for determining a trace of the working robot. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a robot comprises: a step of receiving information of a tool and first information of a working robot; a step of determining whether of having five degree of freedom or six degree of freedom of the working robot; a step of calculating second information of the working robot using the first information; a step of calculating the second information of the working robot using the first information if the working robot has the six degree of freedom; and a step of calculating the second information of the working robot using the first information and the tool information if the working robot has the five degree of freedom.
