A map transceiving apparatus in a broadband wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to secure more radio resources for traffic transmission by transmitting a portion of information included in a map to the DCD/UCD(Downlink Channel Descriptor/Uplink Channel Descriptor) and deleting/reducing a portion of the information. A base station apparatus in a broadband wireless communication system comprises the followings: the first generator(310) for producing a map including at least one of one-dimensional downlink resource assignment information, which consists of a allocation start position and allocation length, the least significant bit of a frame number and the least significant bit of a DCD/UCD(Downlink Channel Descriptor/Uplink Channel Descriptor) number; a controller(302) which controls so that the map can be transmitted every frame; a transmitter(318) transmitting the map; and the second generator(308) which produces a DCD/UCD including at least one of base station identification information, frame length information and allocation start time information. |
