METHODS FOR PRODUCING GLASS MEMBER ADDED WITH SEALING MATERIAL LAYER, AND HERMETIC MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass member with a sealing material layer by making it possible to reproducibly suppress generation and the like of cracks of a glass substrate, while forming a sealing material layer in a good state with a laser beam.

SOLUTION: After applying a sealant paste in a frame shape onto the surface 1a of a glass substrate 1 having ≤60 ppm compaction value, a laser beam 7 is radiated by scanning along the frame-shaped coated layer 6 of the sealant paste. By heating the frame-shaped coated layer 6 with the laser beam 7, the sealant is baked to form a sealant layer 5.
