ENCODING METHOD, ENCODING DEVICE, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoding technique that can prevent tone quality from deteriorating under a condition of encoding an input signal string at a fixed bit rate even for acoustic signals which hardly permit linear prediction.

SOLUTION: A prediction coefficient is so encoded that the maximum value of the order of the prediction coefficient represented by a linear prediction coefficient code decreases with an increase in the downward trend from a lower order to a higher order of an indicator corresponding to the magnitude of a PARCOR coefficient obtained by subjecting input acoustic signals in a prescribed time section to linear predictive analysis. The residual signal of the linear predictive analysis is encoded with a code quantity obtained by subtracting the quantity of codes used for encoding of the prediction coefficient from a prescribed code quantity assigned to the pertinent time section.
