<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control apparatus of an internal combustion engine, capable of improving restarting property due to, for example, an engine stall when the engine is in a low temperature state. <P>SOLUTION: The valve timing control apparatus includes a groove passage 50, which is formed on an inner end face of a front plate 13 of a housing 3 and has a circumferential length L formed to be larger than a circumferential width of a first vane 16a. The groove passage makes an advanced angle hydraulic chamber 12 communicate with a lag angle hydraulic chamber 11 by way of one circumferential end 50a and the other circumferential end 50b, at the position where a vane rotor 9 has been rotated relatively on the most lag angle side with respect to the housing. While an engine stall occurs when the engine is, for example, in a low temperature state, and when the vane rotor performs the rotation of the most lag angle position, the vane rotor is rapidly rotated to a lock position by increasing a fluttering amount of the vane rotor with an alternating torque by making the both hydraulic chambers communicate with each other, and thereby obtaining favorable restart. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
