<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive system and a motor drive method which can perform safe operation. <P>SOLUTION: A motor drive system includes an inverter-side power supply path for supplying power from an inverter using a self arc-extinguishing semiconductor element through an inverter-side contactor for making electrical connection or disconnection between the inverter and a motor to the motor, a system-side power supply path for supplying power from a system power source including a power system or an AC generator through a system-side contactor for making electrical connection or disconnection between the system power source and the motor to the motor, and control means. The motor drive system accelerates the motor by the power supply through the inverter-side power supply path, and then switches the power supply through the system-side power supply path. The control means outputs an input signal to the system-side contactor, makes electrical connection to the system-side power supply path, and then stops the inverter when an amplitude value of the current passing through the system-side power supply path is a predetermined value or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
