PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for subjecting combustibles out of large quantities of radioactive cesium contaminated materials occurring due to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster to incineration treatment in order to generate incineration ash and applying a melting solidification treatment to the incineration ash to achieve a volume reduction and stabilization effect, and at the same time, reducing a radioactive concentration of part of the molten solidified waste, the whole of which is required to be treated in a controlled final landfill site in a conventional technology, to be 8000 Bq/kg or less, in order to enable the waste to be landfilled at a general waste final disposal site.
SOLUTION: A chlorine compound is supplied to combustibles contaminated with radioactive cesium for incineration to generate incineration bottom ash containing cesium chloride, or incineration bottom ash obtained by incinerating the combustibles contaminated with radioactive cesium is mixed with a chlorine compound. The incineration bottom ash obtained through at least either of the steps above is molten at the boiling point or more of cesium chloride, and the cesium chloride is condensed into molten fly ash to reduce radioactive cesium concentration in the molten solidified waste.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
