<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and conveniently distinguish erroneous decision of a PDL type of printing data in which a PDL type is not specified before output to avoid unnecessary printing caused by the erroneous decision of the PDL type and suppress consumption of sheets, and to output without temporarily stopping when the PDL type of the printing data is specified and when correct determination is performed. <P>SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus includes: a PDL determination means (403) for determining which PDL interpreter can analyze the printing data and outputting analysis possibility having at least two or more levels; a PDL selecting means (407) for determining the PDL type based on the determination result; a page image generating means (405) for generating a preview image by analyzing the printing data; and the preview means (406) for displaying the preview image on an operation part (104).
