The carton (1) has stiffening flaps (5) folded into an interior of the carton, so that an inner side of each flap faces a bottom surface (2) of half of the carton. Outer sides of the stiffening flaps are formed on different halves (3a, 3b) in open state when the carton is in closed state. The outer sides rest against each other. The flaps project into the interior of the carton, and are coupled by closing agent i.e. adhesive. The outer sides are provided on different halves when the outer sides are joined by the closing agent in the open state and the carton is in the closed state. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a machine for closing a packing carton (2) a method for closing packing carton.
