PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a control method thereof are provided to simultaneously offer a PS(Packet Switching) based VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) service and a CS(Circuit Switching) based communication service. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(180) processes signals transmitted and received through wireless communication modules. The control unit determines the network connecting unit of an opponent terminal device in which a second number for a CS based originating service and a first number for a PS based originating service are assigned. When the network connecting unit of the opponent terminal device is a first system, the control unit provides the PS based originating service. When the network connecting unit of the opponent terminal device is a second system, the control unit provides the CS based originating service.
