<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation structure which prevents reduction in nail retainability for a thickened insulation and allows for the blockage of a thermal bridge in the case that an insulation is added as an outer insulation wall, and a method for constructing the insulation structure. <P>SOLUTION: An insulation structure 11 includes a horizontal rail 12 which is fixed to a wall surface with a screw 16, an insulation 13 having a rear face which comes in close contact with the wall surface and has a cutout part 24 for accommodating the horizontal rail 12, a horizontal furring strip 14 fixed to the surface of the insulation 13, and a wall facing material 15 fixed to the horizontal furring strip 14. After the horizontal rail 12 is fixed to an existing wall 1 with the screw 16, the insulation 13 is arranged. The horizontal furring strip 14 is then fixed with a screw 17.
