<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide materials for cement with which a molding can be obtained that is improved in mixing stability and water holding and has high strength when used as an admixture into cement or a concrete placement material, and a cement composition employing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The material for cement includes an alkyl modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer, wherein the alkyl modification vinyl alcohol-based polymer contains a monomer unit (a) represented by general expression (I) and the content of the monomer units (a) is 0.05 mol% or more and 5 mol% or less (in formula (I), R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>represents a straight chain or branched alkyl group having 8-29 carbons, and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>represents an alkyl group having 1-8 hydrogens or carbons). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
