<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that provides high-quality images. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus employing an electronic photographic system includes: a photoreceptor that forms an electrostatic latent image on the surface thereof; a charging roller that contacts the photoreceptor to uniformly charge the surface of the photoreceptor; a developing device that forms a toner image on the photoreceptor; and cleaning means for removing stains on the surface of the charging roller.
