The system (4) has a recognition device e.g. mobile phone (3) such as smartphone, comprising an individual identification unit. A small box (2) is designed to receive the mobile phone. The small box has a connection unit formed of mini universal serial bus (USB)type male plug and adapter plug to connect the phone with an electronic equipment of a vehicle (5). The box has a removable and changeable adapter designed to be introduced into a fixed part and to adapt a form and/or of the connection unit of the small box with a form and/or connection unit of the mobile phone. An independent claim is also included for a method for identifying a driver of a vehicle.
