The method involves performing data-post processing of stereoscopic image pairs taken at reference time by searching a stereo-pixel in the second image corresponding to a pixel of the first image. The pixel of the first image in the image pairs taken at next time is monitored by correlation. The stereo-pixel in the second image corresponding to the pixel of the first image of the image pairs taken at the next time is searched. Displacement or deformation of a body is determined by triangulation of movement of the stereo-pixel in the second image between the reference time and the next time. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for characterizing modal/service deformations outside and within a plane of a moving body.
