A fastener installation tool (10) including an upper jaw (46) having a head (56) adapted to engage a fastener (100) for securing a plurality of workpieces (102, 104) to one another, a lower jaw (12), and first and second pairs of links (32a, 32b) fastened to the upper and lower jaws (46, 12). The tool (10) includes a hydraulic cylinder (84) having one end (86) attached to the lower jaw (12) and a piston rod (90) attached to the first pair of links (32a). The cylinder (84) actuates the tool (10) between a disengaged position, in which the links (32a, 32b) are in a retracted position and the upper jaw (46) and the lower jaw (12) are juxtaposed with one another, and an engaged position, in which the links (32a, 32b) are in an extended position and the upper jaw (46) and the lower jaw (12) are spaced apart from one another. The tool (10) is adapted to install the fastener (100) to the workpieces (102, 104) when the tool (100) is in its engaged position.
