A friction clutch is arranged between the drive unit and the transmission of the vehicle. A rotational speed gradient of the transmission input shaft is determined during the operation of vehicle. The clutch palpation dot of friction clutch is determined using the calculated rotational speed gradient. The filtered rotational speed (140) of the transmission input shaft on linear behavior is examined, and in response to the detection of linear behavior, the rotational speed gradient of the transmission input shaft is determined.
