The device (2) has a support frame (10) and a supporting receiver (15) for holding a food support. The receiver is height-adjustably fastened at the support frame that includes support projection parts, and the receiver lies on an associated condition on the projection parts of multiple or module planes. The support frame includes supporting columns (11, 11') arranged parallel to each other and aligned vertically, and the projection parts are arranged at a rear side of the columns. The receiver comprises two receiving parts (16, 16') that are spaced at a distance from each other. An independent claim is also included for a cooking appliance.
