PURPOSE: An image display apparatus and a memory management method thereof are provided to omit an additional circuit configuration or a procedure for inputting the data in an EEPROM, thereby simplifying a circuit structure. CONSTITUTION: An image display device includes a control unit(110), a programmable IC(Integrated Circuit)(150), and an external nonvolatile memory(130). The control unit includes a central processing unit. The external nonvolatile memory includes the control unit or a first storage unit and a second storage unit which store the initial data of a plurality of programmable ICs. The first storage unit stores first data which is the initial data of the control unit. The second storage unit stores second data which is the initial data of the programmable IC.
