METHOD OF PRODUCING METAL BY MOLTEN SALT ELECTROLYSIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing high-purity metal from an ore at a low cost.

SOLUTION: The method of producing metal by molten salt electrolysis includes a step of selectively dissolving a metal element present in an ore or in a crude metal nodule produced from the ore each comprising at least two species of metal elements into a molten salt, and a step of setting a pair of electrode members in the molten salt in which the metal element is dissolved and controlling the electric potential of one of the electrode members at a prescribed value to selectively precipitate or to alloy the specific metal element present in the molten salt on the electrode member.
