PURPOSE: A light emitting device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to form a quantum dot layer on a dome-type lens and separate the quantum dot layer vulnerable to heat from a light emitting diode chip. CONSTITUTION: A submount(10) has a light emitting diode chip. A dome-type lens(16) is formed in the upper part of the submount. The excitation light emitted from the light emitting diode chip passes through the lens. The lens diffuses the excitation light. A quantum dot layer(17) is formed on the lens. The quantum dot layer changes the wavelength of the excitation light to generate wavelength converter light.
