The method involves forming an elongated molding tool in a spine region (17) of a book to be manufactured, according to a design form of the book, where the molding tool is extended along the entire length of the spin region between a front cover and a rear cover and comprises multiple furling shells (2). A forming shell (2') is selected as a function of the design form of the book by using the furling shells. The spine region is moved facing against a book cover (15) by the selected forming shell. An independent claim is also included for a device for forming a book cover for a book.
