The electrolyte solution for a lithium ion secondary battery according to the present invention contains a nonaqueous solvent, a lithium salt and a compound represented by the general formula (1) shown below. Thereby, a lithium ion secondary battery having high battery characteristics and simultaneously achieving a high safety as well can be provided.
