<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden on a user when classifying telephone directory records in order to improve user friendliness of a telephone directory in a terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A telephone directory management apparatus 1 comprises a telephone directory rule determination section 13 and a metadata imparting section 14. The telephone directory rule determination section 13 determines whether or not an attribute name or a value included in a telephone directory record satisfies a condition set in a telephone directory rule and, if the attribute name or the value satisfies the condition, extracts metadata corresponding to the condition. The metadata imparting section 14 imparts the extracted metadata to the telephone directory record. Thus, since metadata imparted to the telephone directory records can be used as information for classification or retrieval, the classification or retrieval of telephone directory records is facilitated.
