The present invention provides a method and a server for an event match service for an online game which can raise user interest and loyalty therefor. A method for an online event match service in an online sports game comprises the steps of: determining whether a win of a league by a user team has been confirmed, the leaque facilitating a leaque play in which a user team and at least one other team engage in a league game therebetween; if the user team is confirmed to have won the league, on a screen for an online sports game of a user terminal, displaying a selection menu for playing an event match, the menu allowing the user to enter a selection about whether to play an event match; and, when a selection input from the selection menu for an event match is received from the user terminal, running an event match-up mode in which a game between an event team and the user team is played, the event team being a team comprised of athlete characters selected, in accordance with pre-configured criteria, from among at least one athlete character included in the online sports game. |
