PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to inhibit runaway reaction due to a highly active catalyst at the start-up of a fixed-bed type propylene oxide reactor.
SOLUTION: This method for starting a fixed-bed type propylene oxide reactor containing a metallic catalyst carried on a carrier comprises following steps of: (a) heating the reactor at a temperature lower by 5-55°C than that in normal operation conditions; (b) passing a propylene-containing gas on the catalyst in the reactor at a flow rate of 5-40% of designed flow rate value; (c) adding an organic chlorine compound to the gas passing on the catalyst; (d) adding oxygen to the gas passing on the catalyst, and raising the reactor temperature and gas flow rate to the operating conditions.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
