The method involves driving axle (1) with two drive wheels (3,4) by internal combustion engine (7) and electric machine (9). An axle (2) with two drive wheels (5,6), is driven by an electric machine (14). The rotational non-uniformities arising as a result of engine momentary rotation speed regarded as too high torque of the engine is reduced by a load point lowering such that the rotation torque delivered from the engine is reduced and the rotational torque of the electric machine (14) is increased.
