PURPOSE: An image control device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to effectively express three-dimensional images to a user by automatically determining the three-dimensional images. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(180) determines an input image as a three-dimensional image group based on a boundary value and a threshold value corresponding to the center boundary line of the input image. The control unit extracts feature values from the three-dimensional image group. The control unit determines the input image as a two-dimensional image or a three-dimensional image based on the extracted characteristic values and the two-dimensional or three-dimensional image. A display unit(151) displays the two-dimensional or three-dimensional image.
