<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device with excellent orientation of liquid crystal and moreover with high light resistance. <P>SOLUTION: An electro-optic device of the present invention includes a pair of substrates having a liquid crystal layer held therebetween. A surface of at least one of the pair of substrates which is on the liquid crystal layer side is provided with an inorganic material film having a plurality of projections projecting toward the liquid crystal layer. A first monomer film including a first organic material covers surfaces of the plural projections which are located in a first in-plane orientation on the surface of the one substrate provided with the inorganic material film. A second monomer film including a second organic material, which is different from the first organic material, covers surfaces thereof which are located in a second in-plane orientation, which is different from the first in-plane orientation, on the surface of the one substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
