<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery manufacturing method which can make it possible to detect a short circuit in a secondary battery in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: In the secondary battery manufacturing method, first a plurality of unit cells which have had their charging finished are placed side by side and the plurality of unit cells are heated collectively. At this heating time, an air flow is formed in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the juxtaposed direction, and air by this air flow is passed evenly between each unit cell, whereby all of the plurality of juxtaposed unit cells are evenly heated. Then, they are subjected to high temperature aging until a first reference time elapses. Thereafter, each unit cell is cooled. Even during this cooling time, the air flow passing between each unit cell through is formed, whereby all of the plurality of juxtaposed unit cells are evenly cooled.
