<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for secondary battery capable of suppressing exhaustion of an electrolyte at a center part of the electrode when a secondary battery is constituted. <P>SOLUTION: An electrode 10 for secondary battery comprises an electrode having an active substance layer 12 having at least one surface of a metallic collection plate 11 coated with an active substance, a groove 16 is formed in the active substance layer 12, and an outer peripheral edge of the groove 16 is positioned inside an outer peripheral edge of the active substance layer 12. The active substance layer 12 is formed on both surfaces of the collection plate 11 respectively in two layers, and each comprise an inner layer 13 applied onto the collection plate 11 and a surface layer 15 applied onto the inner layer 13 as an active substance layer most on a surface side.
