<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium holding device that allows a user to mount a recording medium to an image forming apparatus without touching the surface of the recording medium and prevents the recording medium from skewing during feeding a sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium holding device includes: a pair of holding members 1 attached at both ends of a core pipe and having the maximum diameter thereof smaller than the maximum diameter of a virgin recording medium; a pair of supporting members 6, 4b for supporting the pair of holding members 1 so as to be rotatable about an axial direction of the core pipe; and a pair of regulating members 3, 4 disposed so as to come into contact with both end surfaces in an axial direction of a virgin recording medium. The pair of holding members 1 each include: a mount part in close contact with the interior of the core pipe; and a handle 1d projecting axially outward from the mount part.
