The method involves applying marking on road surface in the form of lines, and recording and evaluating marking by installing a sensor in vehicle. One of the marker lines is extended in a direction of travel and is arranged such that center of marker line coincides with driver and the deviations are fed as analog signal to a summing integrator (3.3). The marker line is transverse to direction of travel. A pulse train is generated in the sensor whose frequency is dependent on speed and distance between the lines.
