This method for forming a protective film for touch panel electrodes is characterized by comprising: a first step wherein a photosensitive layer, which is formed from a photosensitive resin composition that contains a binder polymer, a photopolymerizable compound and a photopolymerization initiator, is formed on a base that has a touch panel electrode; a second step wherein a predetermined part of the photosensitive layer is cured by irradiation of an active light ray; and a third step wherein a protective film, which covers a part or the whole of the electrode, has a thickness of 10 mum or less, and is formed of a cured product of the photosensitive resin composition, is formed by removing parts of the photosensitive layer other than the predetermined part. This method for forming a protective film for touch panel electrodes is also characterized in that the total solid content of the photosensitive resin composition has a hydroxyl number of 40 mgKOH/g or less.
