<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a user interface function that allows a user to easily select any function by a simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: A video display device comprises menu screen displaying means and operation history storage means. The menu screen displaying means comprises at least two or more hierarchies: a classification selection element group that is formed by disposing selection elements representing classification of various kinds of functions corresponding to a video display side by side and becomes an upper hierarchy; and a function selection element group that is formed by disposing the selection elements representing a function corresponding to the classification side by side and becomes a lower hierarchy. The menu screen displaying means also displays a menu screen on which the selection element representing any function can be selected by operating an operating device. The operation history storage means stores information depending on the number of times of an operation obtained from an operation history with respect to the selection elements disposed on the menu screen.
