<p>The present invention is provided with a step for cooling a furnace and maintaining a rolling bearing component at 620-700°C for a predetermined length of time prior to quenching and tempering treatments following a carburizing or carbonitriding treatment. The amount of C+N at a contact surface of the rolling bearing component, which uses an alloy steel containing appropriate amounts of Cr and Mo, is 0.9-1.4 mass%, and the area ratio of carbide is 10% or less. A depth of 1% of a rolling body diameter from the contact surface has a hardness of Hv 720 to Hv 832, a residual amount of austenite of 20-45 vol%, and a compressive residual stress of 50-300 MPa. A depth of 1-3% of the rolling body diameter from the contact surface has a mean value of the prior austenite grain size of 20 mum or less and a maximum value of the prior austenite grain size of at most three-fold the mean value, and the core hardness is Hv 400-550.</p> |
