In order to communicate a haptic sensation to a user, a haptic sensation producing device (10) is equipped with: a panel-shaped haptic sensation producing member (11) provided to the front surface of a display panel (20) for displaying content; a driver for moving the haptic sensation producing member (11) along the front surface of the display panel (20); and a controller (14) for controlling the driver. When a user touches the haptic sensation producing member (11), the controller (14) controls the driver, the haptic sensation producing member (11) is moved, and a haptic sensation is generated in accordance with a touch input operation.
