The assembly device (10) has several receiving units (20) for receiving stator that are pivotably mounted at a mounting unit. A deflector (26) is moved relatively with respect to the mounting unit between horizontal and vertical positions. A winding device is provided to wound continuous wire of predetermined pattern on the stator, in horizontal position of the mounting unit relative to the deflector. The receiving unit is pivoted by movement of the mounting unit between horizontal and vertical positions relative to the deflector. An independent claim is included for a method for mounting segmented stator of electrical machine.
