摘要 <p>The invention relates to an independent suspension for a rear wheel of a passenger car, having a wheel carrier (20) fixedly connected to a longitudinal control arm (1), the free end thereof being jointedly connected to the vehicle body by means of a longitudinal control arm bearing (2) allowing changes in toe under the effect of lateral forces on the wheel, and having two control arms (5, 11) extending in the transverse vehicle direction jointedly connected to the wheel carrier or longitudinal control arm and to the vehicle body. One of said control arms (11) functions as a transverse control arm (11), is also partially aligned in the travel direction and is jointedly connected to the wheel carrier or longitudinal control arm near the wheel and comprises a bearing (6) for the other control arm (5) functioning as a so-called drop control arm (5), preferably physically crossing the transverse control arm, wherein said bearing allows a tipping motion of the drop control arm about a horizontal tip axis (21) extending in the direction of travel, and the drop control arm is supported at both ends thereof by a support (3, 8), said support being rigid in the vertical direction and flexible in the horizontal direction, on the longitudinal control arm at one end and on the vehicle body at the other end, wherein the bearing point (7) of the drop control arm on the vehicle body side is at a distance from the pivot axis (17) described by the vehicle body side bearing points (2, 10) of the longitudinal control arm and the transverse control arm as seen in the plan view.</p>
