A method for wetting and/or conditioning soil comprises applying a soil treatment composition containing hydrolyzed protein to the soil. The soil treatment composition preferably contains a surfactant selected from ethylene oxide-propylene oxide (EO/PO) block copolymer and/or an alkyl polyglycoside.
