PURPOSE: A control device of a monitoring camera and a method thereof are provided to remotely control a position for a monitoring area of the monitoring camera in a control center without visiting a field. CONSTITUTION: A control device of a monitoring camera generates azimuth data for an azimuth reference point by receiving the azimuth data outputted from a direction sensor and calculates the azimuth data for a boundary block. The control device calculates an azimuth for a direction of a lens unit of the monitoring camera. The control device tilts the lens unit to a tilt angle set in the lens unit when the azimuth of the lens unit is matched with a position of the sunlight(S110,S111).
