<p>A reinforcement (1 see fig 1) is provided for a vehicle pillar 100, in particular a B pillar, The reinforcement (1) comprises a reinforcing structure 2 with an upper end region (4 see fig 1) for connection to the vehicle roof and a lower end region (5 see fig 1) for connection to the underfloor and/or a sill structure of the vehicle and further comprises a stiffening structure 3 connected to the reinforcing structure 2 to provide stiffness appropriate to the possibility of a side impact. The reinforcing structure 2 has at least one material section 6, 7 which projects with respect to the stiffening structure 3, which serves to connect the reinforcing structure 2 to the outer skin 110 and/or the inner skin 120 of the vehicle pillar 100. The reinforcing structure 2 consists of a weldable non-boron steel and the stiffening structure 3 consists of a hardened boron steel. The invention further relates to a vehicle pillar 100 with the reinforcement.</p> |
