<p>A domestic internal door latch system that requires a push-pull operation. The system is operated via an elevated wedge incorporated into a spindle bar (1). Upon pulling or pushing the door knob or handle the elevated wedge passes through the slide bar locator (2) making contact with a tab (7) at the rear of the latch (5). As the elevated wedge passes through the body of the main unit (4) its increasing height forces the latch (5) backwards through its contact with the tab (7) thus retracting the latch from the door frame. Upon releasing the door knob or handle the latch (5) is forced back to its normal extended position through the means of a spring. In all circumstances the door can be closed by pushing or pulling shut.</p> |
