<p>A device for effecting iontophoresis across a membrane, mucosa or eye comprising a varying power source for generating a signal and having an output stage comprising at least two electrodes 7 & 9, where at least one electrode has a duel function to act as both an electrode and an inductor. A resonant circuit may be formed between the capacitance and resistance elements of the membrane and the inductor of the at least one duel function electrode. The output stage may introduce either a current or voltage having a waveform, duty cycle and frequency which causes resonance to occur in the resonant circuit. There may be the means for setting the waveform, current density and frequency of the varying power source. The signal may be applied synergistically to the resonant circuit so that electrolytic rectification of the resonant current oscillations between the inductor and capacitance can be effected so that current flows additively in one direction only with depolarisation between pulses. A possible further embodiment disclosed may comprise a semi-disposable controller with a power-supply, display, navigation buttons and a disposable adhesive patch that may contain an electrode and where the patch may be controlled by the controllers wireless signal.</p> |
